With the 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup only a few weeks out, the Jamaican Women’s National team is set to make their debut on the big stage. With many of the players coming from all over the country, there is a common home for a few right here in Orlando. SPECTRUM has become a place of grind and sanctuary with the help of Will Hitzelberger, who is the Reggae Girlz performance coach beyond these four walls. With Jamaica being the first Caribbean country to qualify for the Women’s World Cup, there are certainly many eyes on the potential for the team to make some waves during the tournament. Many of the Reggae Girlz have come in and out of SPECTRUM, training with Hitzelberger in the months leading up to the World Cup. They have had their limits pushed to reach the next level and have had the proper equipment to ensure their recovery in the process. There’s a different feeling in the air when you watch these women train together at SPECTRUM. You can see it in their eyes and you can feel it in their actions… they know the journey they are about to embark on. They know that every extra sprint, lift and recovery session is setting them up to make history. I followed some of the ladies for a couple days to show you what a day in the life is like and the role Hitzelberger plays in their development and growth.
