If you’re not already sold on the idea of getting sweaty with a bunch of strangers, then shedding some light on the benefits that come with it will change your mind.

First of all, what is individualized group training?

Typically termed Small Group Training, merging the qualities between Group Fitness Class & 1-on-1 Personal Training. Individual Group Training puts together the excitement of being in a community and focused training considerations for each individual. All of this is overseen by your Performance Coach guiding you down the right path toward your goals.

So then what benefits can you get from Individualized Group Training?

1. Community

There’s something to be said about working with like-minded individuals toward the common goal of working hard in bettering themselves. It breeds camaraderie, teamwork, motivation, and so much more. Building lasting relationships aid us in reinforcing healthy habits. We can joke about “We’re not here to make friends, we’re here to work!” But friends are made as a result of the process. Knowing that someone else is struggling, sweating, and burning just as much as you, despite these discomforts, you might find comfort that you are not alone in achieving your goals.

2. Personalized Methods & Goals

The problem with standard group classes is that they commonly stick to one generic goal: Raise your heart rate and increase your calorie burn. This is done with an unintentional disregard for the individual’s unique needs or a disregard for any restrictions. If you are new to working out, you might not be certain where to begin or how to structure your routine. There are too many elements to consider if you want your workout to be well-rounded and safe. With a coach and other veteran members by your side, achieving your personal goals will be much easier.

3. Accountability

Accountability is probably one of the biggest group fitness benefits. When you’re in a group training scenario, you’ll feel a lot more accountable to attend your class. Once you become a regular, if you happen to miss a class, your coach and the other members will wonder where you are and genuinely be concerned for your well-being.

4. Push Yourself Harder

The Köhler Effect is the idea that no one wants to be the weakest link in a group setting. When it comes to fitness, this translates to pushing yourself harder when tasked with working out around people who are fitter than you. Some studies have shown that participants increased their plank time by 24% when done with a more capable partner.

It seems that opting for a group setting for at least a few workouts each week may help you push yourself past the threshold you tend to hit when working out solo, whether that’d be in time or intensity.

5.  It’s Just Fun!!

When it comes down to it, exercise is supposed to be enjoyable and an outlet for reducing stress. Whether you are outgoing or an introvert, upbeat music, great workouts, and supportive people make for a good time. You will be more inclined to keep coming back and stick to your workout program if you genuinely enjoy every minute of it.
