Wired for Wake: Our History with the World’s Best Wakeboarders
Regardless of how much you know about wakeboarding, one thing is clear: this sport is incredible. These athletes are truly elite—explosive, dynamic, and physically gifted in the best way possible.
We’ve had the privilege of working with some of the best wakeboarders in the world over the years, and it all started right here in Orlando—a global hotspot for wake sports.
It Started with a Legend
Josh Palma, a local legend, was one of the first pro wakeboarders to train with us. His commitment and performance laid the foundation for what would become a long-standing relationship with the wake community.
Enter Red Bull
Soon after, we began working with Mike Dowdy, an emerging Red Bull athlete. When Red Bull learned he was training with us, they reached out. One meet-up turned into an invite to one of their athlete camps—“just to hang out.”
After spending time at a trampoline park and on the water, Red Bull decided to bring their wakeboard performance camp to SPECTRUM for Functional Movement Screening (FMS). When Red Bull commits to something, they go all in—and that support extended to bringing us more top-tier athletes like Dallas Friday and Steel Lafferty.
From there, word spread. In a tight-knit sport like wakeboarding, once you’ve earned the trust of a few pros, the rest follow.

Partnering with TEN-80
One of the first major brands we worked with was TEN-80, a watersports and apparel company deeply rooted in wakeboarding. Alongside them, we trained sponsored athletes like Jeff Langley, Tarah Mikacich, and Tracey Baynham, further expanding our reach in the sport.
A National Project with Wake Canada
Then came Wake Canada, a national non-profit committed to growing wake sports under the Water Ski & Wakeboard Canada umbrella. They asked us to develop a performance testing battery for their wakeboarders to use at training sites across Canada, along with a comprehensive warm-up and workout program. A very cool project—and one we were proud to lead.
Collegiate Talent & World Champions
Our connection to wake and water sports extended to Rollins College, where we worked with athletes like Dorien Llewellyn (world-class water skier) and Mary Morgan Howell, a World Champion Wakeboarder. Dorien came to us for injury rehab and performance training, while Mary Morgan trained consistently with us for several years.
Still Riding Strong
Today, we continue to train wakeboarders year-round thanks to ongoing partnerships with world-class facilities like O-Town Watersports, located on Lake Barton in downtown Orlando. Whether it’s beginner group sessions or pro-level performance training, we’re proud to be part of an environment that helps wakeboarders thrive—on and off the water.
