SPECTRUM x Rollins College: A 20-Year Partnership Built on History, Culture, and Championship Standards

The story of SPECTRUM’s relationship with Rollins College doesn’t begin with a contract. It begins with a visit.

In 1997, SPECTRUM founder Will Hitzelberger was a high-school senior trying to decide where he would play college soccer. Rollins was on his list. During his recruiting trip, he met with legendary head coach Keith Buckley, who at the time was operating out of a temporary office due to facility renovations.

Hitzelberger didn’t know it yet, but this moment would become part of a much larger story.

The First Contract — and a Full Circle Moment (2004)

Fast forward to 2004. SPECTRUM had been founded and was building momentum. When the opportunity came to take on its first collegiate contract, Rollins College emerged as the perfect fit.

The first sports programs to sign on were Men’s and Women’s Soccer, thanks in part to the strong relationships built with two key people:

  • Dan Schuck, former Rollins player and SPECTRUM co-owner
  • Alicia Schuck, former Rollins Women’s Soccer player and long-time coaching influence

The early days were lean but meaningful—SPECTRUM was given access to a balcony converted to a weight room and a closet-office.

That office?
The exact same “temporary” office where Hitzelberger met Coach Buckley seven years earlier.

A full-circle moment.

A Rapid Expansion: Culture Shifts and Program Growth

It didn’t take long for other teams to notice the impact.

After soccer came softball, then volleyball, and then more teams continued to sign on. Within two years, SPECTRUM was training approximately 12 programs across the Rollins athletic department.

With consistency came culture change. With structure came progress. And with SPECTRUM’s methodology came results.

A Decade of Championship Success

The ten years that followed were some of the most decorated in Rollins Athletics history. SPECTRUM’s influence extended well beyond the weight room and into performance, resilience, and competitive identity.

Some of the highlights:

  • 2009: Softball wins its first Conference Championship in program history.
  • 2010: Men’s Soccer reaches the NCAA Final Four.
  • 2011–12: Women’s Basketball makes the Final Four.
  • 2012 & 2013: Women’s Lacrosse earns back-to-back Final Four appearances.
  • 2014: Women’s Soccer reaches the NCAA Final Four.
  • National Championship Appearances: Both Men’s and Women’s Soccer compete in NCAA Championship matches.

These accomplishments reflected more than talent; they reflected a university embracing a new standard of athletic development.

Two Decades Later: Still Leading the Way

Today, SPECTRUM’s relationship with Rollins College is one of its longest-running and most meaningful partnerships.
While Hitzelberger still oversees the contract, he has passed daily operations to a team of highly trained SPECTRUM coaches.

This continuity has allowed the partnership to stay strong, aligned, and culturally consistent for over 20 years.

More Than a Contract — A Legacy

What started as a recruiting visit in 1997 transformed into one of the most influential relationships in SPECTRUM’s history.

Rollins College was the first major collegiate program to trust SPECTRUM.
And in return, SPECTRUM has spent two decades helping Rollins athletes train, compete, and perform at championship-caliber levels.

The connection is deep.
The history is meaningful.
And the impact continues to grow.
